What happens to aging skin?

As you age, your skin falls prey to several forces, starting with simple wear and tear. Your skin is designed to protect you from the outside world and it performs its job admirably, warding off the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and foreign bacteria. What is the Almi procedure?

The Almi procedure rejuvenates your skin using your own tissues to restore volume, texture, and tone to your face, neck, and hands, the three areas where aging skin is most visible.

To start, Dr. Lara removes one-fourth cup of fat from elsewhere in your body and readies it for reinjection. At the same time, she draws two tablespoons of your blood and places it into a centrifuge to isolate your platelets.

Your platelets contain hundreds of growth factors, or proteins, which promote healing and regeneration on a cellular level. In creating this concentrate of your own platelets, she’s able to redirect these regenerative resources into the areas you want to tackle to encourage natural rebuilding.

Once she prepares your fat and platelets, Dr. Lara injects both into the areas on your face, neck, and hands where you’ve lost volume or developed deep lines. The fat goes to work immediately and restores a more youthful volume to the area. In the meantime, your platelets rebuild your tissue from within so that you better maintain the new volume.

Dr. Lara performs the procedure on an outpatient basis, which means you’re free to go home afterward.

When will I see results?

Your results will be both immediate and gradual. To start, the injections of fat work right away to restore volume, but your platelets require more time to do their part. Over the weeks following your Almi procedure, you’ll notice your skin take on a fresher, more toned and even look as your cells regenerate.
