What is a well-woman exam?

Your reproductive system governs your health in innumerable ways, which is why women benefit from specialized gynecological care. During your annual well-woman visit, Dr. Lara first sits down with you to review your health and listens to any concerns you may have that’ve cropped up since your last visit. This start to your exam is perhaps the most important aspect of your well-woman visit since it allows you the opportunity to ask questions, knowing that Dr. Lara is invested in your overall health and wellness.

Following your discussion, Dr. Lara performs a pelvic exam to check the health of your reproductive organs. At some point during your visit, Dr. Lara records your vital information, including heart rate, blood pressure, and weight, so she has a yearly baseline that helps her spot any potential problems.

What services are provided at a well-woman exam?

There are many areas that Dr. Lara covers during your well-woman exam, from your physical health to your mental well-being. Whether you’re just starting your reproductive years or beginning your journey through menopause, Dr. Lara knows what to look out for every step of the way and offers, or refers you to, the services you need, including:

• Birth control planning
• Pap tests
• STD testing
• Cancer screening
• Mammograms
• Bone density screenings

If you have an issue that warrants further investigation, such as heavy bleeding, Dr. Lara leaves no stone unturned when it comes to getting to the bottom of your issue.

Dr. Lara also provides Metagenics® supplements to her patients, which promote genetic potential through nutrition. More specifically, the supplements support the health of your:
